The Wall of Passion

Oil paint and gold leaf on wooden relief assemblage

60 × 100 cm

In this three-dimensional piece, matter and color converge to explore the profound and ambivalent nature of human emotion. "The Wall of Passion" arises from the desire to give a tangible form to everything that excites us, overwhelms us, and defines who we are yet at times, paradoxically, confines us like a wall, restricting our absolute freedom. The choice of wood, sculpted and layered into irregular geometric blocks, emulates the structure of a wall. However, this wall is deliberately fragmented, deconstructed, and dynamic. This visual disarray emphasizes the intrinsic irregularity and unpredictability of passion itself. The fiery, burning tones of the oil paint shifting from deep, intense reds to vibrant yellows, punctuated by scorched, charred blacks- evoke the visceral heat and raw power of this emotion. Within this complex labyrinth of overlapping layers, the gold leaf accents emerge as focal points of pure, precious light. They signify the sacredness and beauty of what truly belongs to us, capturing that core of authenticity and brilliance that endures even within the golden cage of our most consuming desires.
